Well don't this just suck? We just start, then we're canning this thing? Well, sorry folks, but that's how it goes. Y'see, yours truly has grown out of his desires for webcomic success, and is moving on to the big boy's world of real, print comics. Unfortunately, Fanhunt just took so damn long to get off the ground, by the time it was up and ready, I had begun moving on to more prosperous pastures. Had this comic gone up when first intended, we'd be starin' at issue 4 or 5 right now, but alas, it didn't, and we aren't.

The main reason for the cancellation isn't just my lack of time, but because I plan on using the cast planned for Fanhunt in a future professional project. This comic has/had/was going to have my favorite cast of characters out of all of my concepts, so that really kept me from axing it. However, I had another project on the heels that didn't have a cast, and when I threw Fanhunt's in there, it fit like a glove. So I saved the cast, and thus, Fanhunt was gone. 'Tis a shame. Scripts were written for the first 8 issues of Fanhunt, but sadly, it was all too little, too late.

I'll might post some concept art and other stuff that was gonna be used, but who knows.

But, hey, pray for my success in publication, and you may just see the cast of Fanhunt yet, in an even better series with better art! On store shelves, even, so you can read it in front of your friends, thus instantly making you cooler than them! Sweet deal, huh?

I apologize if I inadvertently crushed the hopes of anybody who saw the new page above and thought Fanhunt was alive again, but I really wanted to upload one final page for two reasons: First, I think this particular page contains some of the funniest dialogue out of all the pages Cody drew for the series (including quite a few more you folks will regrettably never see), and it would have been a shame if nobody else besides myself got to enjoy it. Second, I thought that uploading one last page and having Cody and myself each write a final news post would help bring a sense of closure to this feature which has taken up so much of our time and energy...

On that note, now is a good time for me to express that, in spite of all the work leading up to this rather anticlimactic finish, I have no regrets. Collaborating with Cody on this project was a hell of a lot of fun, and I learned a great deal in the process. In fact, had I learned some of those lessons sooner (specifically those in regards to planning ahead and keeping to a schedule), perhaps Fanhunt could have debuted when I originally intended for it to, and Cody and I might have gotten quite a bit more accomplished with the comic back when we both still had the time to work on it.

What's done is done, though, and like I said before, I have no regrets. The way things turned out is unfortunate, but not tragic. Cody has other plans for this awesome cast of characters he's created, and without the need to maintain and update this subsite anymore, I'll be free to dedicate more time to working on Project AFTER. I do plan on leaving the Fanhunt site open, though, for archival purposes if nothing else. So feel free to come back and browse through the pages of this site whenever you want for the sake of remembering what was, imagining what could have been, and getting a small glimpse at what will be.
